In Interior Architecture, the interplay of Size, Scale, and Room is crucial yet ambiguous. Students in this design studio explored dynamic, fluctuating relationships within interiors, focusing on atmosphere and scenarios. Their task: design a boutique hotel in an Adelaide laneway, detailing specific areas like the lobby or guest rooms. Emphasizing site-specificity, they navigated challenges like sun exposure, privacy, and wind, balancing conventional hotel layouts with local context. Studio discussions highlighted site conflict impacts and unexpected design possibilities. Students produced large renderings to examine light-material interactions and smaller ones to explore interior light variability.
